Lucia's secret plans...

I have decided that Lucia must love bath time and must also feel personally offended that she doesn't get more of them. My reasoning is that she is starting to insist on multiple baths per day by purposefully, I think, either blowing out her diaper or spitting already digested milk all over herself. It is the perfect plan! :)

Here she is all innocent looking after said offences

And this face/terrible picture angle just makes me laugh

Lucy and Mr. Elephant

More Lucia in the gym. I just think she is too funny with her talking. She spent so much time this morning talking with the plastic elephant "Mr. Elephant". She also laughed at Pat yesterday. It was this high pitch sort of screeching sound. I wish that I had caught that on video!

First Mother's Day

Today was my first Mother's Day and I have to admit that I was pretty darn excited about it. I never imagined that I would love motherhood as much as I do. I, of course, knew that I would love our daughter but had no idea how much or how much I would enjoy spending my days with her. I can't imagine a more enjoyable life that spending my days being a mom and loving on my little girl. She is so much fun and each day just seems to get better and better as she becomes more responsive. My friend Sarah told me it is just amazing when they can say "mama". I can't wait for that. I feel like I am enjoying each stage.

Along with it being Mother's Day, it is also Lucia's 2 month "birthday". She is growing so fast. My Mother's Day started off with Lucy sleeping 6.5 hours and then waking up with tons of smiles for me. Pat had chocolate chip and strawberry pancakes waiting for me, which are my favorite. We made it to church this week without any kind of diaper of spit-up blow out which kept us away the last two weeks. I was so thankful to be back at church especially on Mother's Day. I felt pretty proud to stand up with the other ladies. :) Lucia did, however, pee all over her dress. It was the first time that I had taken her out in a dress and it was the one that her aunt Kaitlyn bought for her. She had an outfit change mid service but I putting her back in it this week for pictures because she was super cute. After church, we went out for lunch and now I am writing this blog. Pat has dinner ready to go tonight already too!

Thanks to aunt Kate for the Mother's Day dress! Here are some pictures of the day:

Lucia and Pat at Breakfast

Saturday at the Murphy's

Pat, Lucia, and I had a great day on Saturday. We got a relatively early start to the day and headed out to the nursery to get some plants for our front yard only to find out that it was closed. Who closes a nursery on a sunny Saturday! Anyway, we decided to run some other errands instead. Here is a picture of Lucy and I heading out for the day.

Pat made a great dinner and Lucy slept like a dream for her evening naps. Here is a picture of her on shift two of her nap. She woke up, took 1 oz of a bottle, and then went right back to sleep. There was no hope of waking her up. :) While Pat made dinner, I got to go for a run, which I love on the sunny days around here.

I love the weekend days with Pat at home. We get to enjoy Lucia together. She is so much fun and unbelievably cute. I wish that I could freeze time. I never want to forget any of this especially her little face when it is smiling at me or fast asleep.

8 week check-up

Lucia survived her three shots and her 8-week check up yesterday. I can't believe that she is nearly 2 months old. Time is flying by and she is just getting bigger and bigger. She is now 10 pounds 2 ounces. She started off at 6 pounds 9 ounces, so she is packing on the baby pudge. Nothing overly interesting happened at the doctor's office other than the shots and the doctor twisting her head one direction to show me how to get her to look the other direction. She did not appreciate having her head twisted about and she let the doctor know that she was not pleased with him. :) It took me a while to get her calmed down after that. She did better with the shots though. She let out a sad shout and then fell asleep which seems to be her style.

She seems to change every day as well. She is getting very social and spends a lot of time each day smiling at us and cooing. Pat and I LOVE the little talks that she has with us. We just soak it all up. She is so sweet! She is also getting better and better at playing with her gym which is by far her favorite toy. She will spend 30 minutes in there happily talking and batting at the animals. She does not like to be removed from the gym before she is good and ready. :)

We are off to have lunch with Uncle Craig this morning!

Sunny Sunday

Pat, Lucia, and I had a great day yesterday. It started off with Lucy going one 6.5-hour stretch from 9pm to 3:30am and then a 5-hour stretch to 8:30am. Pat went to check on her at 8:30 and here is the picture that he came back with as proof that she was still ok and sleeping in her crib. We then made a valiant attempt to make it to church. We were heading out the door when we realized that Lucia was going to want to eat earlier than we expected, so we gave her a quick bottle. When heading up to change her after the bottle, we discovered the blow out...more baby poop than I have ever seen before! It was amazing! She had it everywhere including my new outfit that I was wearing for the first time to church. That quickly turned into a bath in order to get the poop off of her head! Yes, it had made its way all the way up to the crown of her head! The little lady did smell great after the bath though. The day turned out to be unexpectedly sunny, so and I drove to UVillage, grabbed lunch, and took a walk with Lucia on the Burke-Gillman trail. She was a trooper and we were able to stay out of the house for a great 6 hours. I love the fresh air and this is such a beautiful time of year for walking outside. It was a great weekend day! Now back to the weekdays for a bit.

Pillow from Aunt Jai

My sister-in-law, Jai, made Lucy this crazy awesome pillow to match her crib bedding. Jai apparently has mad sewing skills that far exceed my own. The pillow looks great! Here is Lucia posing for her thank you email to Jai.
