35 Weeks!

Ok, I have been terrible at blog posts recently but I am going to make another effort to stay relatively on top of this thing! I don't want to miss capturing all of the important moments with our soon to arrive son! Life will be full of lots of joy when he arrives and I don't want to forget a thing. So, to do a tiny bit of catch up...

I am now 35 weeks pregnant...whew! I have had tons of Braxton Hicks contractions this go around and much more intense than I ever had with Lucia. He is so low down at this point (dropped at 33.5 weeks) that it is even uncomfortable to sit upright all of the way and bending down is a real chore. All in all though, I feel pretty good. I am so grateful that I don't have any pregnancy complications and am just trucking along to the 40 week goal! The little man moves a ton these days which I love of course. It is pretty amazing to feel his little feet in there. In other news, we are still trying to decide on a name! We did this with Lucia too. It is just such a big decision!

Lucia is as cute as ever of course and is excited to meet her little brother. She shares toys with him/my belly often which is pretty cute. I am totally in love with her little voice and the crazy funny things that she says. Here are a few:

1. She is now potty trained but when she was learning, Pat took her to the restroom one evening when they were out at a restaurant. She went "potty" and then he told her that he also needed to go potty. Of course, she needed to stay right there with him. Observing the process, she said..."Daddy, you a sprinkler!". Possibly my favorite quote to date!
2. She found a tiny terry cloth ball that I think was once a bunny tail. She carried it around and, as far as we know completely on her own, named said ball "stinky little pine tree". She is quite attached to it. In fact, we were walking around Ballard a few weeks back, she took a decent fall skinning up her knees and, before she had recovered, she said "oh no! stinky little pine tree!" because she had dropped it during the fall.

I'll have to think of some more quoteables to add to the list.

We went camping with the Murphy/Anderson families back at the end of July. I'll leave you with some cute cousin pictures. More pics to come!

Sweet Little Lucy-Lu

I just have two quick stories from Lucy land that reminded me of how sweet our little lady is.

First, last night at dinner Lucy pulled up her shirt and smooshed her belly saying "my belly getting bigger. baby brother growing in there." Her sweet 2 year old mind thinks that she is growing a "baby brother" just like Mommy is growing a baby brother. Then she proceeded to stick her sippy cup up to her belly button and said "I need to feed baby brother".

Second, she woke up at 7:30 this morning rather than her normal 8:00 wake up time, so I went in to see if I could rock her back to sleep. We snuggled in the chair for a while and then I told her that I would put her back in the crib. I laid her down and she looked up at me and said "Thank you for rocking me mommy", closed her eyes, and fell back to sleep.

I love this kid!

Water Park

Howdy...you probably can't tell by how I'm typing, but this is Pat. I decided that after 3 years, I'm going to get in on this blogging thing. I don't want my kids to grow up thinking that Dad doesn't get excited about the memories too.

Today Briana and I took Lucy and Aunt ZeeZee (Lindsey) to the Willis Tucker park which has a great water play area. (How anyone got funding to build a water play area at a public park in a town that gets one sunny day a month is beyond me, but I'm happy for it.) Lucy needed a little encouragement to get in on the action, but in no time she was spazzing out with the best of them. Lucy does this crazy little prancing two step when she's excited. It was on full display today.

Top quilt

Well, I am so close to finishing the top of my quilt! Here is a picture of my progress so far. A few more rows of squares to add and then begins the back and actual quilting part. It has been so much fun and a bit painful too. :)

I leave you with this...

The Little Things

I wish that I had a video camera going full time to capture all of the hilarious things that Lucia says and does these days. I love her little sayings and how she expresses herself, so I thought that I would try to remember some of them here.

1. When Pat comes home, she rushes to the door, pulls it open and yells "Welcome Draky". Drake is my nickname for Pat. Who knows how it came to be. Then she starts talking crazy fast trying to tell him all about her day before he can even get a foot in the door.
2. When she woke up from her nap the other day she yelled "Mommy, I waked up!"
3. I asked her if she would share her toys with baby brother when he was born. She said "OK Mommy" and then promptly brought over a few legos and set them on my belly.
4. We had an doctors apt. this week and I told her in advance that we would hear brother's heart beat. I asked her what she thought on the way home and she said "Mommy, baby brother heart is loud." She was referring to the loud static that you hear when the nurse first starts looking for the heart beat.
5. She was laying on one of our sofas last night and she said "Mommy lay on that one" pointing to the other sofa in the room. So, I did and then told her that we should talk about our feelings. :) I asked her how she was feeling. Her response was "pretty good mommy".
6. Lucy was asking to play with the little baby play gym and I told her that she was too big and that it was for baby brother. She said "that's right" then thought for a minute and said "mommy, baby brother needs to share that!".
7. We are working on potty training and now when she needs to poop she tells me "Out da way mommy". Today was a new one though. She walked into the bathroom and shut the door. When I went in after her, she said "out da way" again so I left (leaving the door open) and she shouted "shut da door please mommy".
8. We bought a little toddler bible for Lucia a week or so ago and she absolutely loves it! She asks me to read it before she even gets out of her crib in the morning and then gives me full baby sermons on Joseph, Jonah and the Whale, Noah, Daniel and the Lions Den, Jesus healing people...and the list goes on. My favorite is Jonah and her phrases include: "Jonah go Ninva",
"God give SECOND CHANCE" (second chance is said with lots of enthusiasm), "Be sweet Ninva", "Jonah obey God". It is really really cute.
9. Another quote from the bible that she said last night was "God's Choooosen people...Israel God's choooosen people". I then explained that Israel is God's chosen group of people but that God also chose us to love, mommy, daddy, and Lucia. Then she started naming us with "God's choooosen people" added to the end.

A Toddler Room!

We have been working hard on Lucia's new toddler room. She will move out of the nursery around the end of July and into her new space! I'm really excited about it. It is starting to come together. Pat has been painting and I have been quilting. I am excited to move everything into the room in the next few weeks and, fingers crossed, be done with the quilt! Then we will start working on the details like pillows, decorations on the walls, and curtains.

The "Before" picture with all of the guest room furniture and decorations removed. (oh how I have hated the color in this room for YEARS...peace out nasty room color!) And that is Lucy's little bed in the room.
Pat doing the dreaded job of cutting in with the paint. It looks like toothpaste and it is AWESOME! :) I love color.
A little blonde helper
Piecing together my quilt! At some point I will have to estimate how many hours I have spent on this thing.

Shoes and a hat

I'm trying not to go too crazy buying boy clothes because a few of our friends have offered to loan us clothing, which is so great and generous of them. I have caved though on a little hat and pair of shoes. They were too cute. I couldn't resist them.

So...here is the start of our little baby boy collection.

My mom has also graciously (and maybe a bit reluctantly) offered to sew the crib bedding once again. She is a trooper. I'm sewing a twin size quilt for Lucia's toddler bed along with pillows for her bed and the little guy's chair, and perhaps curtains for both rooms, so I am maxed out on sewing projects. I'm excited to see how the crib bedding turns!

Here is an oppressively large picture of the main crib fabric. This is monster sized.
