Pat was away this weekend on a photo trip to Northern CA with his friend Chris. It has been sad to have him away but I have been very thankful to have Kaitlyn here and, last night, Lucia and I got to go have dinner out with our buddy Erin! Lucia thinks that Erin is just about the greatest. She hams it up for her every time we hang out. So here are a few shots of our night out together.
Lucy lounging in her highchair checking out the balloons behind us.
Erin and Lucy. Lucy also decided to show Erin her love by dumping a nice tall glass of water all over Erin's purse. Me and the little lady in her high chair. She looks so grown up sitting there all on her own! Apparently it was quite the party night because Lucy managed to pull her hat down over her eyes on the way home and fell asleep. This shot was taken after I had parked in the garage.
Lucia is definitely showing signs of crawling. She gets up on her hands and knees now and rocks back and forth. It is pretty cute. I was able to get it on video the other day, so I thought that I would post it.
Here are a bunch of photos from our photo shoot last weekend. Pat took all of the pictures of course and Kaitlyn and I ran around and acted like crazy ladies to get Lucy to laugh. It was a lot of fun and ended, as all good baby photo shoots should, with Lucia peeing on the backdrop.
I loved seeing Lucia in the little bee costume. It was pretty cute. She loved the fabric and spent a good portion of the time trying to eat it.
And...the out-takes. She wasn't actually mad here. These are just funny Lucy faces
Life has been busy and a lot of fun these past few weeks! Kaitlyn arrived on October 16th and is staying with us until the beginning of January. We are thrilled to have her for many reasons including babysitting! :) It has been great to have her around during the day to play with Lucia here and there. Lucy thinks she is the greatest and gets totally excited whenever she comes around.
It seems that every day has been full. We have been able to walk Greenlake with friends Lindsay and Jackson, go out to coffee with Kaitlyn and Erin, and hang out with Rachael and Hollis. All good times with great friends. It makes the rain of the fall more enjoyable when you get to spend time with good people.
Halloween has come and gone. I was lame and didn't get a costume. I don't know why but I guess I just wasn't all that motivated to go on a hunt for the perfect costume. Kaitlyn and I went to Target yesterday and she insisted that we scope out the 75% off Halloween junk section. Well, I found a little bee costume for $3.24, so I had to buy it. :) I took some crappy pictures of Lucia in the costume last night but these are just a glimpse. Pat took some amazing shots of The Lu this morning in her bee costume, then some in a cloth diaper, and then some nuddy...until she peed all over the backdrop. :) I'll post those pictures as soon as they are ready.
Lucia: the baby bee. "ohhhh sparkle fabric, how I love you" Terrible lighting on this picture but the ones that Pat took are great. Some play time with Aunt Kaitlyn Snuggle time with Dad after work Pat reading to Lucia...so educational..oh wait, that is the REI catalog! A baby in a toy box. She thought this was pretty great. Who wouldn't want to be stuck in a whicker basket full of all of the toys that you love in the world. Cute lady in an awesome hat! :) Going to town on an apple slice. It only fell on the floor about 15 times and then went straight back into her mouth. I'm sure it was clean!
Call and response time with Aunt Kaitlyn. Not sure what they were saying to eachother but it was intense. :)
I think that one of Lucia's favorite parts about eating is the opportunity that she has to attempt to consume the napkin as I am washing off her face.
Lucy has been getting more and more mobile these days now that she is rolling around with speed, pivoting on her belly, and scooting backwards. She is going to be crawling in no time. For now, though, she has discovered her toy box and had quite a great time empting it out the other day and tipping it over on herself.
Pat is quite thrilled that Lucia loves a little wrestling in the evenings after he gets home from work. He fake tosses her around and throws in a "body slam" here and there. She fights back by grabbing his hair or slobbering all over his face. :) It is pretty enjoyable to watch as Pat is making fighting sounds and Lucia is busting out baby giggles. I caught the tail end of a wrestle match on video. It doesn't do it justice but you'll get the idea.
I should also mention that Pat doesn't just roughhouse with Lucia. Tonight he was changing her into her PJs and giving her the bottle. When he was finished, I went in to kiss her goodnight and he said "I'm just going to hang out in here with her for a few minutes." They are now rocking together in the next room over. I love it!
It has been a busy and fun last week with lots of time spent with friends and family. Kaitlyn arrived on October 16th and will be staying with us until January 6th. We are thrilled to have her. Lucy is definitely thrilled as well. Kaitlyn gets a big grin out of her whenever she walks into the room. I intended to take lots of pictures of Kaitlyn and Lucy but haven't taken a single one yet. I'll get some soon and post them on the blog.
The Murphys and Andersons came over yesterday for a visit. It was the first time that I felt like Lucia was really trying to interact with Solveig. She was so interested in everything that Solveig was doing and would just lean forward, staring at her, and shriek and squeal. I can't wait to see them running around together. It is great fun to see the family grow. Bring on more babies!
